P8M JIB building in GenSan to be turned over by October

The turnover of the P8 million JIB Building in General Santos City by October this year is not only a sign of good things for GenSan, business-wise, but is also proof of the growing confidence in the city as the next choice destination for investments.

"General Santos City's economy is thriving and there is a corresponding clamor for more choices when it comes to education," JIB Career Center founder Joji Ilagan-Bian said.

The four-floor JIB Building is the address of all the companies founded by Ilagan-Bian. The ground floor will be occupied by the Tumble Tots pre-school while the second and third floors will be occupied by the Institute of International Culinary and Hospitality Entrepreneurship (ICHEF).

The fourth floor will be for a 200-seat call center touted as the first locally-owned call center in General Santos City. "While the building will be turned over this year, we will be open for enrolment only by January 2011 and will start classes by May 2012," Ilagan-Bian said. The head teachers of the schools will all come from Davao City while they are still training pre-school teachers for GenSan.

The major subjects in tourism management will also be handled by teachers from Davao City, most of them with post graduate degrees in hospitality management.

Ilagan-Bian said they will be offering the same quality of education being offered in Davao City. However, she said, their fees will be higher than those of the existing schools there.

"We may be priced higher than the competition, but they will surely get the JIB quality which has been its trademark for a sometime now, especially when it relates to the hospitality and tourism industry," she said.

She said residents of GenSan and adjacent provinces, like Sarangani and South Cotabato, need not go to Davao City to get quality education in tourism and hotel management since JIB will be providing it to them right in their hometown. This will mean less expenses for the students, and more employment opportunities for the residents.
